Giving Back and Volunteering

Thomas Petty believes that by giving back to society, we can all make the world a little better place. He has always volunteered his time, and as a teenager, he spent two of his summers in Latin America helping the people of Guatemala and Paraguay with a program from Amigos de las Américas. He has also worked at local Habitat for Humanity work sites, building and refurbishing homes for low-income families.

American Red Cross

He has been a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Northern California Blood Services Region, served on their board of directors for eight years, and was Board Chair for two years. He has personally donated over 12 gallons of blood and has sponsored over 100 community blood drives in Livermore since 2002, which has collected thousands of units of blood to give more life to sick and injured Bay Area patients.

After his wife, Joanne, got very sick with a rare medical condition, she was the recipient of life-saving blood as well. They both continue to promote blood donation, sponsor blood drives every month, and help recruit donors.

Please go to the American Red Cross blood donation website today and find a drive near you by searching with your zip code. Each unit of blood can help save up to three lives.

Local Board of Directors

He is currently volunteering on the Board of Directors of the Livermore Chamber of Commerce and Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group, and manages their website and online marketing efforts.
