Social Media Marketing Course for Business & Non-Profits
During this hands-on class, learn the basics to engage with your customers on social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and avoid the common mistakes most people make.
Social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are excellent places to connect with your customers and clients. It allows you reach people in your own neighborhood or halfway around the globe. Nearly 1/8 of the planet is on Facebook alone! But each of the “Big 3” social media platforms is a little different in the way they work, and the audience that you can reach.
During this course, you’ll learn:
- How to effectively market to and engage with your audience
- Dispel some myths about social media marketing and how to overcome them
- The basics of using the “Big 3” for your business – Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
- What are hashtags, why you need them and how to use them (and how not to use them)
This course is offered through Livermore Area Parks and Recreation (LARPD). Cost is $100 for Livermore residents, $110 for non-residents, and registration is through the LARPD course system.

Anyone who is new to marketing using social media.
This is a two-hour hands-on workshop in which you can optionally bring your laptop with you to practice the concepts in class. We’ll demonstrate live on the screen, and you can follow along or practice in your own account.
Basic understanding of the internet and preferably have used at least one social media platform before. It would be ideal if you create a user id for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn ahead of the class.
